S-Muyali Airline SARLU (acronym: SMA SARLU) is a new generation Congolese airline founded in March 2026 in Kinshasa by Mr. Sylvain MUYALI. Its innovative positioning is that of an Ultra Low Cost Carrier (ULCC) — the first structured operator of this type to emerge in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
The history of Muyali Airline stems from a simple and strategic observation: with over 2.34 million km² and more than 110 million inhabitants, the DRC faces immense land transport challenges. Historically prohibitive airfares — often ranging between $200 and $500 for short domestic routes — effectively exclude the middle class and provincial economic actors.
Inspired by the global success of ULCC models (such as Ryanair in Europe or AirAsia in Asia), the founder dedicated over two years to market research, financial auditing, and regulatory structuring under SYSCOHADA and IATA standards to bring SMA SARLU to life.
